I picked up The Maniac after Austin Kleon called it one of the best things he read in 2024. It’s “a fictionalized biography of John von Neumann, focused on the rise of artificial intelligence, the atomic bomb, and the limitations of human intellect.”

As soon as I finished this, I picked up his earlier book, When We Cease to Understand the World. I'm looking forward to reading what Labatut writes next.
