Han Kang on reading literature
This is an excerpt from Han Kang’s official interview after winning the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature:
Reading books, especially reading literature, enables you to enter the depth of another human. It's a very direct way to enter the other's heart or soul, so it means a lot. And with this entering and getting out of it and coming back to yourself over and over again, and with this process, the boundary of yourself becomes, can I say, flexible. You can be more open and mature. So I feel it's very important to read literature.
