Learning from your failed shots
I’m watching Tatiana Hopper's YouTube video, Why Your Bad Photos Are Actually Important, where she makes the case that taking time to examine my photographs can help me grow as a photographer.
What connects all of these photographers is that they actively thought about the work they made. They studied what failed, questioned what succeeded...
That idea reminds me of my time in Japan. Each night, I reviewed the day’s photos and decided what I wanted to do differently the next day. I even made a list of things to remember.
Recently, I traveled to Edinburgh for a short trip but didn’t look at my photos until I got home. I wish I had reviewed them each night. It might have helped me notice what wasn’t working in my compositions and hard contrast black and whites.
This seems like something Flow could support. It could let me mark up photos, add notes, and keep a “reminder to self” list of what I want to work on next time I take photos.
